Botox Botox is a protein that is produced by the clostridium botulinum bacteria and has been purified for cosmetic purposes. A small amount of Botox is injected right into the muscles that are responsible for creating the wrinkles. By inactivating these muscles the lines disappear or diminish dramatically. Injections give the face a smooth and more relaxed appearance. The procedure is quick and done with very fine needles to give minimal discomfort.
Dermal Fillers As we age the underlying tissues of the skin begin to break down often leaving laugh lines, smile lines, crow’s feet and other facial creases where excessive muscle movement occurs. Soft tissue fillers (injectable collagen) can help fill in some of these lines and creases, temporarily restoring a smoother appearance. The fillers are injectable beneath the skin and plump up creased areas. They are also used to add a fuller look to lips. Collagen fillers are designed in the laboratory and are identical to human collagen.
Light Chemical Peel With time and age there is a slow-down of the rate of which old cells leave the surface of the skin and are replaced by new fresher cells. This causes a layer of dead skin cells that are responsible for the appearance of aged skin. Alpha hydroxyacids loosen the dead skin cells allowing the outer skin layer to peel off. This gives a fresher, healthier look and balances out skin pigmentation. With long-term use collagen and elasten may regenerate making fine lines less obvious. Dr. Jennifer Bonnett, a client of Penny Lane Spa & Salon since June 2005. Dr. Bonnett, is a local M.D. specializes in Cosmetic Skin Care, who works in association with Penny Lane. Ultimately we decided to work together to offer each other's clientele the benefits of both establishments.
